I’m a feminist, queer affirmative therapist offering a wide range of mental health services guided by approaches like ACT, DBT and existential psychotherapy. As someone who lives for art, therapy is no different for me; crafting metaphors, collaboratively re-storying narratives, and empowering my clients through a multitude of expressive methods is my forte. Clarifying what gives one purpose and helping them get closer and closer to that, is usually an important goal in therapy for me. I’m trained in providing trauma focussed therapy and queer affirmative counselling practice, and I provide supervision to early career mental health professionals (0-6 years).
I have been teaching psychology in undergraduate and postgraduate programs for close to 8 years now and I’m also engaged in research on youth mental health, particularly the confluence of gender, culture and mental health. I’m an avid reader and giving book recommendations is my favorite activity! I love nature, metaphors, and books.
I'm a huge fan of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and for me it is a way of life. My passion is to help therapists who are making the transition from another model of therapy to ACT, and to do it primarily through metaphors and experiential exercises.
SUPERVISION APPROACH
In supervision with me, you can choose to focus on your cases, your technique and method or your way of handling a certain situation. Or maybe you want to focus on what happens in you, when you are being challenged. The focus and style of our work will be determined by you.
I provide case consultations based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supervision for practitioners whose primary approach is ACT, and supervision for early career mental health professionals who have not found a go-to approach yet. Most of my supervisees have been young therapists who needed handholding on conducting their first few sessions and establishing a private practice.
If you are someone who is drawn to approaches like person-centred therapy/narrative therapy we might be a good fit. If you are drawn to evidence based approaches but find CBT/REBT to not quite fit the bill, we are very likely to be a good fit. If you resonate with ACT and like metaphors, we might just be a great fit!
If you are a trainee therapist or have recently started practicing (0-2 years), I would recommend starting with group supervision and following it up with individual supervision when you have a diverse case load.
