HEALING CONVERSATIONS THIS WAY
Hello, I'm Dr. Sudha Shashwati, the founder of Raabta and a psychologist who has been in the field of mental health for 10 years. I have been trained in Clinical Psychology from TISS, Mumbai and have a doctorate in Psychology from University of Delhi. I also have a gold medal from University of Delhi for being the university topper in Psychology Honors at undergraduate level. I have taught in several premier colleges of University of Delhi known for the rigor of their Psychology departments (JMC, LSR, DRC, KNC) for 6 years and continue teaching and research along with providing therapy and supervision. I love books, nature, and metaphors.
Our team is made up of 4 therapists who share a commitment to provide ethical and effective mental health services. We use a variety of experiential, post modern, evidence based approaches like ACT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and more, but what remains common is our client-centred, existential stance. We place a strong emphasis on building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship, a solid raabta, that is the foundation of all we do. We all work with an intersectional social justice lens and are feminist and queer affirmative in our approach. We also take pride in being evidence based, and all our services are grounded in research.
Our signature practice, for which we are known and loved by our clients, is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a form of psychotherapy supported by 40+ years of research!
Raabta was born out of a yearning to build a community of mental health professionals known for their care, ethics, and rigour.
It was envisioned in response to the growing receptivity of Indian public (albeit a small section of it) to seek help for mental health issues, and simultaneously in recognition of lack of credible spaces that provide opportunities of continued learning and quality supervision for mental health professionals. It was long dreamed of and longed for, and has finally taken shape in the form of a team of 5 (and growing). At Raabta, we strongly believe (and this is supported by research) that all change that takes place in therapy is ultimately the function of what we call 'therapeutic alliance'- the raabta between therapist and client. We believe in tailoring our techniques and our stance to the unique needs and goals of each client, to their history and their hopes for the future, to their personalities and their current life circumstances. At Raabta, we aim to provide mental health services that are ethical and effective, rooted in a culture of ongoing supervision, a dedication to evidence based psychotherapy, and a commitment to attunement with the client and the therapeutic alliance at all stages of one's work.
Welcome to Raabta, which we hope will become for our clients as well as fellow therapists, Attunement Central!
